Can-Am is one of the better places to eat when ur traveling on highway 1up East/West. The place might look a bit dated from the outside but once inside it is quiet, clean, warm, cozy with nice background music what really helps to make u feel comfy and unwinded. The food is awesome!! I ordered a Beef teryaki and all i can say its one of the best i've ever had while traveling. They have asian cuisine as the owners are nice and friendly Korean people, they also serve burgers and lots of other great plates and foods, all-day-long breakfast wich i tried and is very good as well. The prices are very good and affordable. Staff is all what u can wish for in a restaurant, great grat people! They refilled both of my go-cups for free with coffee, good thing and all reason to give a great tip!! I'll come Back for sure!! 5-stars well deserved!!

Amazing home made soup, spotty customer service and a BIG cheque! I stayed in Whitewood four days and had all of my hot meals at the Can-Am. I had several different experiences there during my stay, some fantastic and others that left a bad taste in my mouth. The menu has a place for your usual diner fare, sandwiches, all day breakfast, a list of home cooked entrees, but also boasts an Asian menu as well as daily specials (sometimes usual menu items at discount and sometimes a unique daily dish like pierogies and cabbage rolls). The soup was always home made and delicious! The burgers were great and I really enjoyed the chicken fried rice! I found a significant difference in the customer service depending on who was working. One waitress was amazingly accommodating (remade a side salad that came with feta on my request as I didnt read it was included while ordering) while the other refused to make a side salad without the cheese at the time of placing my order claiming that all salads are pre made and they were too busy to accommodate the request ( there were two other diners and a table of three gentlemen enjoying a cup of coffee). This particular waitress was very short with customers and was rude when things like vinegar, ketchup and take out boxes were requested.The bill can add up quickly here as a can of pop or juice with your meal is $2.50 each. 3 chicken strip dinners, a poutine and four drinks cost us $82.14 on a take out order. I dont mind paying for quality but didnt find the price tag matched the product/service received. It is one of the few places in town for a home cooked meal and wish I could have tried Archies or Ponchos, just didnt make it there!
I know, I know...5 stars for truckstop food. Totally uncalled for. But if the food is served by friendly staff, clean dining room and not greasy... I will be back.
